Baldwin, located in north east Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, was originally part of North Edmonton. It was annexed by the city in 1912. While just under 7% of the residential housing was complete before the end of World War II, the majority was completed between 1946 and 1970, almost 77%. The remainder were built in the 1970s with development considered complete by 1981.
The single family home is the most common residence, coming in at 62% of the housing inventory. This is followed by rental apartments in low rise structures with less than five stories, at 23%. Duplexes make up 9% of the homes and row houses an additional 5%. 57% of homes are occupied by their owners. The area is considered fairly mobile with 47% of the population being at the same address for five years or more.
The northern boundary is 132nd Avenue, the southern is 127th Avenue and the Yellowhead Corridore. The eastern edge is fronted by 66th Street and the west by 82nd Street. Travelling north along 66th Street will take you to Londonderry Mall.
Four schools are in Balwin. Balwin Junior High School, North Edmonton Elementary and Princeton Elementary are all part of the public system and St. Francis of Assisi Elementary Junior High School is part of the Edmonton Catholic District.
The Queen Elizabeth High School is to the west via 132nd Avenue and the M.E. Lazerte High School is located north along 66th Street.
