Once part of the coal mining town of Beverly, the neighbourhood of Beverly Heights became part of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1961 with the amalgamation of the two principalities. It is located on the eastern part of the city with its southern border being framed by the North Saskatchewan River valley. The northern edge is 118th Avenue, the western is 50th Street and the eastern edge is framed by both 34th Street and 36th Street.
There are four schools servicing the Beverly Heights area. The Beverly Heights Public School, the Lawton Junior High School and the R.J. Scott Elementary School are all part of the Edmonton Public School System. The St. Nicholas Catholic Junior High School also serves the area.
Lawton Junior High was the first junior high school in Beverly. It is named after Percy Benjamin Lawton, a teacher and principal. He later went on to become a Supervisor of Beverly Schools and then superintendent and for a brief time served as mayor of Beverley.
The Beverly Cenotaph, the first in Edmonton, was built to honour men from Beverly that died in World War 1 and is in Beverly Heights. The closest shopping malls are Beverly Olde Towne Centre and Abbottsfield Shoppers Mall.
