Canora is located in west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It was originally part of the town of Jasper Place which was incorporated into the city of Edmonton in 1964. The western border is 156th Street, the east is 149th Street and the north is fronted by 107th Avenue. Stoney Plain Road borders the south.
Canora is mainly zoned residential but there is some commercial development along the southern edge of the area. A motel sits in the south west corner of the neighbourhood. Almost 75% of the residential inventory are rental units. Apartments make up almost half of Canora’s homes. Duplexes make up 28% of the structures and single family homes the remaining 21%. Most of the construction was done between the end of World War II and 1980.
Two schools service the neighbourhood; the Brightview Elementary School, part of the Edmonton Public School System and the Holy Cross Elementary Junior High run by the Edmonton Catholic Schools. White Hall Day Care & Out of School Care Ltd. of Canora and the Canora Community League are also available.
