The Cloverdale neighborhood is bordered on the north by the North Saskatchewan River, the southwest by Conner’s Road, the access roads to the Low Level Bridge, and the aperture of the Mill Creek Ravine. The Low Level Bridge and the James McDonald Bridge lie to the north. This river valley neighbourhood is situated just across the river from Edmonton’s downtown area. Surrounding neighbourhoods include Bonnie Doon, Forest Heights, Holyrood, and Strathearn. Local area attractions in the Cloverdale neighbourhood include the Muttart Conservatory and Gallagher Park. The Muttart Conservatory is a beautiful botanical gardens area showcasing four pyramid glass structures housing more than 700 rare and exotic plants from a variety of climates around the world. Gallagher Park is the site for the city of Edmonton’s annual Folk Music Festival held the second week in August of each year. The festival is a four-day event featuring a variety of folk music forms including bluegrass, gospel, blues, Celtic, and country and R&B.

While development of the Cloverdale neighborhood began as early as before World War II, some reconstruction and development of the area have occurred in recent years. According to the 2005 municipal census, the Cloverdale neighborhood contains 358 residences, with a 46% increase since the 2001 federal census. In conjunction with the 2001 federal census, almost half of the 245 residences in the neighbourhood at that time were constructed after 1990. A small number of residences were constructed between 1986 and 1990, 20.4% were built between 1946 and 1960, and 18.4% were constructed before 1946.
