Dechene Real Estate

The rather triangular shaped neighbourhood of Dechene is located in west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It was named after Joseph M. Dechene, the father of Judge Andre M. Dechene. The neighbourhood was annexed by the city of Edmonton in 1972.

Residential development began in the 1980s, that decade producing 62% of Dechene’s housing. Just over 35% of the homes were built in the 1990s. Single family homes make up 89% of the residential inventory. The remaining homes are duplexes. Almost 97% of the homes are occupied by their owners.

Dechene is bordered by Callingwood Road on its northern edge, by 178th Street and Lessard Road on the east and south east and by 184th Street in the west. West Edmonton Mall is to the north and is easily accessed by 178th Street.

Two schools are available in the neighbourhood. One is the Good Shepherd Catholic Elementary School; the other is the S. Bruce Smith Junior High School, part of the Edmonton Public School System. Demographics Population 6,075 Median Income $88,548 # of Homes 1,922 © Stats Canada Census Data
