Joseph Hormisdas Gariepy was an early pioneer and local merchant and the Gariepy neighbourhood is his namesake. It is located in west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Its western boundary is 178th Street and the northern edge is Callingwood Road. The east is framed by 170th Street and the North Saskatchewan River valley borders the south.

Though a handful of homes have existed since the 1960s, major construction in Gariepy began in the 1970s. Almost half of the homes, just over 46% were built during that decade. The 1980s contributed just over 47% with just a few more homes built in the 1990s.

The single family home is the most common property, accounting for 66%, or two of every three structures. This is followed by apartment style condominiums at 13% and duplexes at 14%. Row houses make up the remainder. Almost 97% of the homes are occupied by their owners.

Gariepy Park is in the centre of the community and Dechene Park is just to the west. The closest school is S. Bruce Smith Junior High School, adjacent to Dechene Park. Callingwood Park, Callingwood Square and the West Edmonton Mall are to the north via 178th Street NW.
