Gold Bar Real Estate
Gold Bar is a residential neighbourhood that fronts the Gold Bar Ravine on the eastern and southern boundaries. This southeast Edmonton, Alberta, Canada area has rather a zig zag path on its northern border from 50th Street in the west to that same Gold Bar Ravine. The southern border is 101st Avenue.
Founded before the end of World War II, the majority of its residences were built between 1946 and 1960, over 66%. During the 1960s an additional 22% of homes were added with just a handful built after 1970. Almost 80% of homes are single family structures, followed by row houses at 18%. There are a small number, 3%, of rental apartments in low rise buildings of less than five stories. Roughly 73% of residential housing inventory is occupied by owners.
Two schools service the area, the public Gold Bar Elementary School and the independent charter school, Mount Carmel Bible School. In 2004 the lands that supported the former St. Bede Catholic Elementary School were acquired by the city of Edmonton for open green space. Residents have easy access to Capilano mall to the south west.
