Holyrood Real Estate
In the Bonnie Doon area of south east Edmonton, Alberta, Canada sits the residential neighbourhood of Holyrood. At first glance it gives the impression of being named after a certain city in southern California, but in truth it is an Anglicization of the Scot’s Gaelic “haly rood” or holy cross.
The northern boundary is 98th Avenue,, the southern is 90th Avenue, to the east is 75th Street and on the western edge is 85th Street. Connors Road and 98th Avenue both lead to Wayne Gretzky Drive which provides access to the downtown core, Rexall Place, and Edmonton Northlands.
Almost 73% of the residential housing was built between the end of World War II and 1960. Most of the remaining homes were constructed in the 1960s. Almost 72% of residences are single family homes, followed by apartments, row houses and duplexes, in that order. Roughly 63% of residences are owner occupied.
The Holyrood Elementary School, part of the Edmonton Public School System, serves the area. Residents have access to a small strip mall in the neighbourhood and more extensive shopping options at the nearby Bonnie Doon Shopping Centre.
