Jackson Heights Real Estate

Jannie May Jackson made history in 1912 when she joined the Edmonton Police Department, thus becoming the first female officer in Canada. Jackson Heights, a relatively new neighbourhood, has borne her name since 1976. The neighborhood is in the Mill Woods area of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and is part of the Burnewood zone.

Most major residential construction did not start in earnest until the 1990s. Almost 88% of the residences are single family homes, making this by far the property of choice. Roughly 10% are row houses and the small percentage remaining is made up of varying housing types. Over 97% of the residences are occupied by their owners.

Whitemud Drive forms the northern border and 50th Street the west. The rather unusual southern border consists of about a block along 40th Avenue, then from 40th Avenue just east of 50th Street a utility corridor makes its way eastward toward the intersection of 34th Street and Whitemud Drive. Jackson Heights is surrounded by light industrial and residential zones.

The Jackson Heights Elementary School serves the area and the Annie May Jackson Park is within area boundaries. Mill Woods Golf Course is conveniently nearby, just a bit west of the neighbourhood. Demographics Population 1,506 Median Income $55,357 # of Homes 585 © Stats Canada Census Data
