Originally annexed to Edmonton in 1912, King Edward Park sits on the south east side of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Whyte Avenue forms the northern border, 71st Street the east and 76th Avenue the south. The Mill Creek Ravine fronts the western border.
Development in King Edward Park began before the end of World War II with just over 12% of the residences being complete by 1946. A little over 46% of homes were built between the end of the war and 1960. An additional 11% were built in the 1970s and the remainder after 1980.
The single family home is the most common residential find, at just over 57%. This is followed by duplexes at 24%. Apartments in low rise buildings of less than five stories make up the remainder. Roughly 52% of homes are owner occupied.
Residents have access to shopping and dining options in Old Strathcona via Whyte Avenue, which also leads to the main campus of the University of Alberta. The Bonnie Doon Shopping Centre and the University of Alberta Faculte Saint-Jean campus are to the north in neighbouring Bonnie Doon.
