Minchau Real Estate
Named for a Prussian immigrant that settled in the Mill Woods area in the late 1800s, Minchau is located in southern Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. August Minchau, who in 1894 made a daring escape from Russia with his family on the S. S. Samaritan bound for Halifax, was also honoured by the naming of the single elementary school in the neighbourhood.
The western border is 50th Street and the southern is 35th Avenue. The Mill Creek Ravine fronts the north east boundary. It is surrounded by the Hillview and Greenview neighbourhoods to the west, Tawa to the south west and by the Bisset and Weinlos areas to the south. Silver Berry, Kiniski Gardens, Wild Rose and Jackson Heights all frame the north and north eastern part of Minchau.
Most of the residences, almost 72%, are single family homes, followed by row houses and apartments in buildings of less than five stories each making up roughly 10% of the housing inventory. Duplexes make up the remainder. Almost 78% of the homes in the neighbourhood are occupied by their owners.
