Overlanders is located in the Hermitage area of north east Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Victoria Trail frames the eastern edge and the Yellowhead Trail edges the south. The Kennedale Ravine makes a natural northern border. Half a block west of 11th Avenue is the western boundary. Heading north on Hermitage Road, the western boundary then follows Hooke Road and Homestead Crescent. Hermitage Road runs through the area.
Most housing construction occurred in the 1970s and the 1980s. Nearly 38% of homes were built in the 1970s with a further 38% in the following decade. A few were built prior to this, roughly 7% ,but most of the remaining inventory was built after 1990.
Apartments make up 43% of the housing inventory. Most of these are in low rise buildings with less than five stories. Row houses follow, making up 29% of the total. Single family homes make up 24%. The remaining homes are duplexes. Only 32% of homes are owner occupied. This makes this area highly mobile, with only 35% of residents staying at the same address for five years or more.
The Overlanders Elementary School, part of the Edmonton Public School System is the only school in the area. The Edmonton Soccer Centre – East Division is located in the area.
