Queen Mary Park Real Estate
An inner city residential neighborhood, Queen Mary Park is located immediately outside the downtown core in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Bounded to the north by 111 Avenue, to the east by 109 Street, the south by 105 Avenue, and the west by 121 Street, Queen Mary Park also occupies land once owned by the Hudson’s Bay Company. Running just south and west of the neighbourhood is the old Canadian National Railway right of way.
The neighbourhood, named after Mary of Teck, Queen of Canada 1910 - 1936, is surrounded by Inglewood, Westmount, and Oliver Westmount (Groat Estates) to the west, Spruce Avenue, Central McDougall, and the downtown core to the east, with Prince Rupert to the north, and Oliver to the south.
Approximately 3/4 of the residences in Queen Mary Park were built between the 1950’s and the 1970’s. A large percentage of the dwellings in this neighbourhood, roughly 85%, are apartments in low-rise buildings. The majority of these are rented, with only a small percentage being owner occupied. Of the residences that are not apartments, the majority are single-family dwellings. Roughly 3/4 of these single-family homes are owner occupied. A few duplexes are in the area. Most of these are rental properties. The average household contains 1.8 persons, with about half having only one person per household.
