Sweet Grass Real Estate

Sweet Grass is one of the more affluent residential neighbourhoods in south west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is named for Chief Sweet Grass, a Cree leader that was by nature a conservationist and who helped to initiate protection of the Plains Bison.

The southern border of Sweet Grass is Saddleback Road and a utility section of Edmonton that is just north of 29th Avenue. The west is fronted by 119th Street, the east by 111th Street and the northern edge by 34th Avenue. Upon completion, Sweet Grass will have light rail access via the Century Park LRT Station in nearby Ermineskin.

Construction of residential housing occurred mostly in the 1970s and 1980s when over 90% of the properties were built. Single family housing is the most popular housing choice, making up 44% of the inventory. Row houses make up 36% and low rise apartment buildings (five stories or less) account for 19% of the total. Roughly two thirds of the residential properties are occupied by their owners and over half of the population have lived at the same address for more than five years.
