York Real Estate
York is located west of the Clareview district, on the north east section of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The northern border is 144th Avenue, the west is 66th Street and the east is framed by 50th Street. Manning Drive curves around the south east edge.
Roughly 80% of homes were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s. York is credited with having Edmonton’s first condominium complex. Over 70% of homes in the area are occupied by their owners. Average household incomes are slightly below average for the city of Edmonton.
The Edmonton Police Service’s North Division headquarters is just outside the neighbourhood’s eastern end, at 142nd and 50th Street. Londonderry Mall, a major shopping outlet, is conveniently close as well. It is south west of York in neighbouring Kildare. Just east of York is the Clareview LRT station which gives residents easy access to downtown Edmonton, Rexall Place, Commonwealth Stadium and the University of Alberta. This LRT station is an excellent park and ride locale.
A Catholic elementary school as well as the S. JJ Bowlen Catholic Junior High School are within the borders as is one Edmonton Public School System elementary school.
